Garena Free Fire India coming to Google Play Store on September 5: Everything you need to
In February last year, the Indian government had recommended a ban on 54 Chinese mobile applications including Free Fire, which was one of the most downloaded games of 2021.
In an interview with indianexpress.com, Vaibhav Das Mundhra, Senior Manager and game Producer, Garena said that the modified version has been developed keeping the local laws and regulations in mind.
Free Fire India: What’s new?
Garena said it has roped in Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the face of Free Fire India and will feature in the game as a playable character named ‘Thala’.
The game will also pack several exclusive features to help players easily reach Grandmaster, the highest rank in Free Fire which is given to the top 300 players in a region.
Just like BattleGrounds Mobile India, Free Fire India will implement ‘playtime limits’ and remind players to ‘Take a Break’ if they are playing for a long time. Moreover, the Singapore-based company will also remind users that the game takes place in a virtual world.
To keep in line with Indian laws, the game will also enforce spending limits and toxicity reporting mechanisms. In order to boost its presence in the country’s Esports market, Garena recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh that will let the company host an international-level Esports tournament in the state sometime in December.
Free Fire India: How to pre-register and download
Free Fire India will be available for download starting September 5 on Android. The game is currently open for pre-registration on the Google Play Store and interested players can sign up for the game by simply searching for ‘Free Fire India’ and tapping on the green ‘Pre-register’ button.
